Botox is a chemical substance obtained from bacteria known as Clostridium botulinum. In a typical condition, Botox has the ability to obstruct the natural association between a nerve and a muscle. We all know that the contraction of muscles primarily contributes to the formation of wrinkles, so the use of Botox ensures decline in wrinkle production. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved the therapeutic usages of Botox in cosmetic grounds, especially in reducing wrinkles.
Botox for Upper Face
The usage of Botox for treating wrinkles is found beneficial, however, research suggests that it functions best in facial wrinkles, particularly in the upper face. In fact, for encountering the problems of frown-lines, Botox functions like a miraculous potion, as reported by a huge number of satisfied customers. Additionally, an effective performance of Botox for treating horizontal wrinkles on the forehead area and on glabella is observed. Glabella is the area positioned just directly between two eye brows. It helps nicely in treating crow’s feet as well.
Botox for Lower Face
While the point comes about treating the lower face wrinkles, Botox may not offer satisfactory results. In fact, the use of Botox for treating wrinkles around the mouth, also referred to as laugh lines, may not be as effective as it is with frown lines. Studies suggest that even the administration of a small amount of Botox in the upper lips may cause a droopy lip, leading to an uncomfortable effect on the speech pattern. Additionally, it may result in further complications if Botox are used for treating wrinkles in the lower face area.
Duration of Botox Treatment
When Botox are used for treating wrinkles, typically patients come out with mixed feelings. It arises mainly because of lack of information at patients’ end. The people who undergo Botox therapy for treating their wrinkles sometimes expect overnight results. But this is not the true story indeed. Although the action of the Botox injection starts after 2-3 days, the peak time comes in 2-3 weeks after injection. The duration typically lasts for 3-4 months if the correct dosages are administered.
One misconception is prominent with the treatment of Botox for wrinkles. Many patients complain after few weeks that they are still able to move their forehead and thus Botox is not effective for them. However, the essential goal for Botox treatment for wrinkles is to reduce the concentration of wrinkles, and not to immobilize the forehead area. In fact, you can count it as a good Botox treatment for your wrinkles if you could find less wrinkle lines without hampering the mobilizing ability of your forehead. What it matters that you don’t have any visible marks left once you make your forehead relaxed.
