Fall Wedding Decorating Ideas

Bride and bridesmaids with champagne

Fall Wedding Decorating Ideas
By Denise Sanger

Did you know that?

• That September is the most popular month for weddings? 14% of couples choose this month for their wedding day.

• October is the third most popular month for weddings. 12% of couples select October for their wedding day.

• 6% of weddings take place in November.

When you total this up, 30% of weddings take place during a fall month. There must be a very good reason for so many couples selecting this time of year for their weddings. Why do you think it is? Many couples tell us they prefer this time of year over warmer, stickier summer months. Also many couples became engaged at this time of year and want to have their wedding during the same month.

If you've decided to get married at this time of year and are searching for some creative wedding ideas, you've found the right article. This is absolutely one of the most breathtaking times of the year for weddings - and decorating has never been easier if you take advantage of the fall season as a backdrop.

If you've selected September or October or live in an area where the weather is still nice outside, you may want to have your wedding outdoors. Choosing a relaxed outdoor wedding theme will not only take the pressure off you, but is guaranteed to have your guests feeling relaxed right from the beginning.

Outdoor fall weddings are very easy to decorate for and contribute to the relaxed feel of the day. Consider hay bales for seating or to hold the beverages placed in metal containers with ice. The coolness of the days will make the ice last longer than during summer months.

This is the time for harvests so be sure to use the flowers and vegetables that are plentiful at this time of year in your fall decorating ideas. Sunflowers, mums, squash, pumpkins and more are all in abundance. Place beautiful sunflowers and mum is unique containers for the table centerpieces. Choose squash and pumpkins to accent your buffet or serving tables, the bar, and gift tables. These fall wedding decorations are not only beautiful but quite inexpensive to boot.

When selecting fall wedding favors, you should also keep the time of year in mind. There are many party favors that any guest would love to receive that are also fall themed. For edible favors, take a look at chocolate with personalized wrappers. These wrappers may be personalized in fall themes plus have the couples name and date on it for that extra special touch.

Another great eco-friendly favor option are wildflower seeds. Wildflower seeds are not only perfect for spring events but tie very nicely into fall events also. Choose wildflower seed favors that you can customize with a fall theme label. For more practical fall party favors, how about a photo frame that can first serve as a place card holder then be taken home to be used later by your guests? This year, there is a very nice fall photo frame designed in beautiful branches in a lovely bronze color. Another great option for a fall party favor is any favor in a gorgeous fall color such as orange, red, yellow or brown. Choose candles, soaps, and more in these beautiful colors.

Fall wedding party decorating has never been easier - or more affordable.

Write the Best Maid of Honor Speech Ever!
By Andrew Davidson

If you are trying to write a maid of honor speech then these tips can save you a lot of worry, time and effort. I'm going to look at how to start writing, give you a simple formula for the speech, exactly what to write down and how to be confident that it will be a success. By reading this article you will be able to sit down and, in a few minutes, have a complete draft of your speech.

So how do you start writing? By starting to jot down your rough notes without any thought as to quality. This is just a draft and it's not the speech you are going to deliver so just jot down your initial thoughts without editing them. If you have some main points in your head get them down on paper in any order and in any way. Keep reminding yourself that this is not meant to be perfect - it's your working draft. If you can't work out what to write it helps to have a formula.

Although you can put your ideas into any order I have developed a simple formula that will allow you to get the key points down on paper. The formula is:

1) Thank the best man (whose speech you usually follow)
2) Talk about the bride
3) Talk about the groom
4) Thank the bride for asking you to be the maid of honor
5) Toast the happy couple

Just think through what you want to say about each of these elements and write it down.

Once you have developed your ideas and are happy with them you might be wondering how you should write them down. The best way is to write them down as key points. Even if you have written the speech out in full it helps to boil it down to a few key points. If you are going to read from a poem or from a quotation I suggest you write it down in full so that you won't struggle to read it in full.

And then the final step, which is entirely optional, is to show it to someone you trust to get their views. Choose someone who can be honest with you and who will give you constructive feedback.

Now that you know the secrets of writing a good maid of honor speech you can get to work on writing down your first thoughts, following the formula for a good speech, writing out the key points and getting a second opinion on what you have written. So now get to it and have a great day!

Andrew coaches people to give their the speeches of their lives!

About stuff, in little portions: Ways To Bungee Jump

Ways To Bungee Jump

There are many ways to bungee jump. While this extreme sport has one main method, there are many varieties that have come to life in the past decade of this international sport. As the old adage goes, 'variety is the spice of life'. This is true even in the already spicy endeavor of bungee jumping.

The variety in bungee jumping usually comes from the position in which you perform the jump, how you are tethered, and any 'tricks' you may attempt to perform during the jump or the rebound. First, let's take a look at the different methods of being tethered, and see what impact that has on your jump.

The most common attachment method is the use of a body harness. The body harness attaches to your body near the center of gravity, or your belly button. One effect of this type of tethering is that it makes it easier to perform flips and spins. Leg harness or ankle harnesses are another way of attaching to the bungee cord. This type of tethering allows for more of the free fall feeling that is traditional with bungee jumping. It is strictly based on the example of the land divers in the South Pacific. Just these two different ways to bungee jump have a vast impact on the performance of the jump and the sensations afforded the jumper. The other variations basically depend on your position when you jump. We will examine a few of these ways to bungee jump in greater detail here.

The position that comes highly recommended is called the Swallow Dive. Just as it sounds, your flight downward will resemble the dive of the bird. Initiated by taking a 'flying leap' away from the platform, the body forms the shape of a bird with the arms outstretched like a bird's wings.

Another way to bungee jump is called the Bat Drop. In this position, you are held in place upside down. This is achieved either with the help of the jump crew, or by suspending by your toes off the platform. The effect is less wind resistance, and you drop like a rock on this one.

The most common way to bungee jump when jumping off of a bridge is to do the Rail Jump. This is very basic, and consists of balancing on the rail of the bridge prior to jumping. Again, some of the jump crew will usually assist in helping you balance on the rail. This seems to actually be easier than climbing over the rail in order to jump.

Another way to bungee jump that is gaining in popularity today is the tandem jump. In this variation, two jumpers take the plunge together. It is somewhat dangerous, as bumping heads at the bottom can be unpleasant, to say the least. The jumpers are actually tethered together, so they are both committed to the jump.

Keep in mind, however, that this is by no means a complete list. There are many more ways to bungee jump that what are mentioned here. As the future of this sport appeals to more people with advanced safety methods, there are sure to be more ways to bungee jump developed.

Budget way to get French Polished Nails Quick

- Zara's nails - first try -note: I didn't have any of the sticky strips so they came out a bit lumpy and uneven!
French Manicures Made Easy

The French Manicure is a natural, yet very stylish look, suitable for all occasions – day and night, and casual through to dressy. With a classic French Manicure you can be confident your beautiful white tipped nails will complement your outfit and the setting. French Manicures are really not that difficult - our simple step by step French Manicure guide shows you how.

French Manicure Step 1: Remove old polish

Using a cotton ball and nail polish remover remove all traces of existing nail polish. There are 2 main types of nail polish remover to choose from. Acetone nail polish removers take off the nail polish quickly but can dehydrate your cuticles. You might want to use Acetone nail polish removers if you are trying to remove bold, deep or bright shades of nail polish. Non-acetone nail polish removers take longer to remove nail polish but do not dry out the nail and cuticle. Remember, if you have artificial nails, you should only use non-acetone nail polish remover.

French Manicure Step 2: File your nails

Rule #1...only file in one direction. You'll weaken the nails if you saw back and forth. Starting from the back of the nail and going to the center, make long, sweeping strokes. Avoid metal files; they are brutal on your nails.

French Manicure Step 3: Soak your hands

Fill a large bowl with soapy water and dunk your hands in it for several minutes. This helps to soften your cuticles and clean the nails. Dry your hands when done, using a paper towel, not a cotton towel. Cotton towels may leave behind fuzzies that will show up in the nail polish.

French Manicure Step 4: Fix up your cuticles

Use a cuticle pusher to push back your cuticles. Then use the pointy end to remove any remaining dirt from under your nails.

Now you nails have been prepared you are ready to apply your French Manicure. To complete your French Manicure you will need: white French Manicure nail polish, neutral (pink or beige) coloured French Manicure Nail Polish and French Manicure guide strips. To make purchasing the nail polishes and guides simple consider a French Manicure kit that offers everything in one convenient box.

French Manicure tip: Use guide strips, they make the French Manicure process so much easier.

You should also have handy your normal nail polish base coat and top coat

French Manicure Step 5: Apply a Base Coat

Base coat helps prevent nails from staining, strengthens the nails and also allows for a smoother application of nail polish. Your nail secretes oil; base coat also helps the nail polish to adhere to your nail better. Apply a thin, not thick coat. A thick coat will just cause nail polish to smudge or take an extremely long time to dry. Make sure the clear base coat is COMPLETELY dry before applying nail polish.

French Manicure Step 6: Apply the white tip

Peel off a French Manicure guide strip and apply it below the tip of the nail, following its natural curve. The guide strip will allow you to paint an even white tip with ease and precision. Press the French Manicure guide strips down firmly to smooth out any ripples. Repeat on all nails.

Apply the white nail polish to the nail tips extending the brush stroke from the top of the guide to the end of the nail. Take care not to get any white polish on the body of the nail below the guide. Allow the white polish to dry completely.

French Manicure Tip: Actually try to get a little of the white nail polish on your skin. This will ensure your white tip is not too thick at the edges which can make French Manicures look unnatural. The extra polish can be easily cleaned up once dry.

A second coat of white nail polish may be desirable, depending on the thickness and opaqueness of the nail polish. Allow the nail polish to dry completely between coats.

Once the tips are dry remove all the guides. Dissolve any leftover adhesive by rubbing it gently with a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover. Be careful not to get any nail polish remover on the white tips.

French Manicure Step 7: Apply the neutral nail polish

Apply the neutral nail polish (pink or beige) over entire nail, this seals the whitened tip and completes the look.

Before applying the nail polish roll the bottle of nail polish, never shake it. Shaking causes air bubbles to form that will stand out when you apply the nail polish.

Rest your hand on a firm surface so your nails remain steady while being polished. To apply the nail polish place the brush an eighth of an inch away from the cuticle - gentle pressure on the bristles will distribute the nail polish outward without bleeding over your cuticle. The first stroke should start from the center of your nail's base and be taken out to the tip. Then make two more even strokes. One on each side. Apply the nail polish thinly to prevent smudging then wait five minutes for this coat to dry.

Start with the pinky of one hand and work your way to the index finger. Repeat on the other hand. Do your thumbs last; they're more instrumental than your other fingers in giving yourself a manicure.

French Manicure Step 8: Apply a second coat of neutral nail polish

After you are sure the first coat is dry repeat step 7. Again apply the nail polish thinly to prevent smudging. When you take time between coats it will give your nails a more even finish.

French Manicure Tip: A French Manicure is best performed on a lazy morning or evening when no other pressing errands or jobs will get in the way. After painting your nails, avoid doing things with your hands while they dry.

French Manicure Tip: The key to all manicures is to wait for each coat to dry thoroughly before applying the next coat otherwise you are sure to end up with smudges.

French Manicure Tip: If you are feeling adventurous make your own colour combinations. Instead of white and neutral polishes you could try red with gold tips or white with silver tips or any combination you like.

French Manicure Step 9: Apply a top coat

The top coat is what protects your nail polish. Before you apply the top coat, touch your nails and make sure they are completely dry. A top coat gives nails an added extra shine and looks more professional. A top coat will also help to prevent nail polish chipping and help your nail polish to last much longer. Apply top coat every few days for extra protection and shine.

French Manicure Step 10: Touch ups

Almost everyone gets some nail polish on their fingers instead of their nails. The best way to clean up around the nail is by using a cotton bud. Dip the cotton bud in nail polish remover and gently rub around the nail to clean up any unwanted nail polish. It's best to wait to do this after your top coat is COMPLETELY dry.

Enjoy your stylish French Manicure.

Mamma Mia ! - good rainy day catch up movie

The cast of 'Mamma Mia!' arrive on the blue carpet for the US premiere

If you didn't see it yet or it's a rainy day (like it is in UK right now) I recommended going to see Mamma Mia.

I went with my 12 year old niece and her grandma and it had bits for all ages in it - it' a bizzare film believe it or not - at the beginning I thought it was going to be rubbish - like a cross between fame and grease meets that highschool musical program.

But then people like Meryl Streep & that bloke out of James Bond start, and it becomes funny - a it's not the kind of film you'd expect them to be in and it kinda makes you laugh.

It's probably out on DVD by now - I'll have to check the lovefilm website (I've got a profile there somewhere)but it's always good to go to the cinema and munch popcorn in the dark - cheaper than renting a flat screen tv I'll bet too!

I think a bloke could go and what this and not get embarrassed as long as he had some girlies with him.

okay - I kind of dread this time of year...

Oakland Raiders v Jacksonville Jaguars

Sometimes, anyhow - I'm talking about the lead up to Xmas, Christmas, you know the big santa guy that will be dangling on the doors of loads of homes probably from mid November onwards.

So yeah, I'm being the grinch now so maybe I can cheer up by then.

I sometimes think that maybe I should do what alot of women seem to do - the organized ones that is - they start xmas shopping in the new year sales and then they buy a little something every week of the year towards a hamper or a gift sack so it's all ready WAY before the festive season.

In theory then, I girl could go off and pamper herself in a health spa or other treat for the family as there wouldn't be the mass panic and stress for buying things, running out of cash & ending up buying a cheap pair of socks for everyone.

I mean I quite like the socks, be nice to have something different for once though - I'll have to look about on the web for cheap and cheerful gifts soon!

I remember years ago when I lived in Reading (UK) I used to look in the local paper a nd people ued to sell ready packed mystery Christmas presents, which would either cntain a big box of ready wrapped presents or a wholesale mixed lots of presents with wrapping paper (for you to wrap) - I expect there are sellers on eBay that do such things - another thing to look out for!

Laser Hair Removal the different types

The Types Of Lasers Used For Laser Hair Removal

You may not have known but there are four different types of lasers used for hair removal. Some clinics offer non laser hair removal. Remember to check out your options before making a decision.

Ruby Laser: This laser used for hair removal has a very powerful pulse. It is also known as being the recommended laser for people with lighter skin. If set on a lower setting it can be used on darker skin. This is one of the oldest lasers used for hair removal. The fact that this laser can only treat smaller areas has made it less requested.

Alexandrite Laser: This laser used for hair removal is versatile. The range can be customized as well as the size of the area. It will depend on the coarseness of the hair being removed. This hair removal laser is very effective and fast. Even more so with larger areas of hair on the body. This laser is the fastest one used for hair removal. You can request this laser or use it with confidence that it will give you great results.

The ND Yag Laser: This laser used to remove hair is known to be one of the greatest lasers. It treats darker or tanned skin and coarser hair the best. This laser has a long pulse unlike the ruby laser that has a very fast pulse. The downside to the long pulse is you might feel more discomfort during your session.

The Diode Laser: This laser used for hair removal is versatile also. It has a design that is wavelike and treats a range of different skin types. This laser is used more for people with darker skin. It gives better results on darker skin rather than lighter skin. This laser will cover the larger areas of the body and has a faster treatment time.

These hair removal lasers have their own certain areas they treat best. This should be of less concern to you and more to your practitioner. Find a practitioner you can trust to choose the best option for your specific need.

Some clinics will offer a non-laser hair removal procedure. If this interests you as well, discuss this with your practitioner. You want to be sure you know your options before having a laser hair removal procedure. What if it really isn't for you and you do not take the time to realize that?

How many people have a procedure done only to later turn around and say they wish they wouldn't have? Not very many, but you do not want to be one of the few. Everyone should get all the information that they can on a procedure such as laser hair removal.

Knowing what kind of lasers they use and their benefits will help make you at ease during your treatment. Knowing about the equipment and process of a procedure can be very calming to some patients.

You will have a better idea of what to expect during your laser hair removal process as well. Is it going to hurt? It might actually depend on the laser used. You will not know until you talk with your practitioner. Make sure they are highly qualified as well. This will also help with achieving the best laser hair removal results.
